Learn about ongoing EMDR Therapy
You understand what happened.

Now you are ready to feel free from it.

Maybe you have talked it through, read the books, journaled, prayed, or tried to reason your way out of the pattern. Yet the effects of a painful relationship or past experience can still leave you anxious, stuck, or unsure of yourself.

You do not need to keep working harder to hold everything together. With the right support, you can let go of what is keeping you stuck, trust yourself again, and move forward with greater clarity and confidence.

EMDR can be offered in more than one format. The right choice depends on your goals, readiness, schedule, support system, and the pace that feels appropriate for you.

Three Day EMDR Intensive

A focused, highly individualized healing experience

For women who are ready to devote protected time to one clear treatment goal. Rather than fitting your healing into a standard weekly appointment, your Intensive is thoughtfully designed around your history, goals, needs, and pace, with dedicated time to stay with the work instead of stopping when the hour ends.

Preparation, focused treatment days, and planned integration make up a structured experience designed specifically for you.

Ongoing EMDR Therapy

A steadier pace with time between sessions

Ongoing EMDR therapy may be a better fit if you prefer a slower pace, aren’t ready for intense work for several hours a day, or want EMDR woven into a broader course of individual therapy.

Sessions are paced collaboratively, with attention to preparation, safety, and your current capacity.

A Different Way to do Trauma Therapy

A three-day EMDR Intensive provides protected time for focused healing work. For many clients, this concentrated format allows meaningful progress to happen more efficiently, not because the process is rushed, but because the work can continue without repeatedly stopping and starting.

Focused

Your work is organized around a clearly defined treatment goal. This helps us stay with the experiences, beliefs, or patterns you came to address, instead of letting each session get redirected by the most recent stressor.

Concentrated

Extended sessions provide time to move beyond preparation and into sustained processing. More of the treatment day can be devoted to the deeper work that may be difficult to reach within a traditional therapy hour.

Continuous

Each treatment day builds on the one before. With fewer gaps between sessions, you may need less time to reconnect with the work, allowing processing to maintain momentum.

Personalized

Your intensive is carefully planned around your history, readiness, strengths, and goals. The treatment plan helps us use the extra time purposefully while adjusting the pace to what you need throughout the process.

Intentional

An intensive is more than several therapy sessions scheduled close together. Preparation, processing, breaks, grounding, reflection, and integration combine thoughtfully to support meaningful, lasting change.

The goal is not instant healing or pushing you through the process. It gives your healing the time and continuity it may need to move forward without stretching each step across months of weekly appointments.

If you are unsure whether an Intensive or ongoing therapy fits your needs, we can talk through the options during a free consultation.

When the past keeps showing up in the present…

EMDR therapy may be helpful when painful experiences, beliefs, or relationship patterns continue to affect how you feel, respond, and relate today. At Elysian Renewal, EMDR is offered as part of individualized treatment for women navigating concerns such as:

  • Trauma, emotional abuse, or painful relationship experiences
  • Anxiety, hypervigilance, overthinking, or persistent self-doubt
  • Divorce, betrayal, or the end of a significant relationship
  • Religious or spiritual trauma and major identity transitions
  • High-pressure professional roles, burnout, or the strain of always being the strong one
  • Old experiences that still feel emotionally charged, even when you understand them logically

You do not need to decide on your own whether EMDR is appropriate. A consultation and clinical assessment can help determine the safest and most useful next step.

Elysian Renewal provides individual therapy. I support women navigating difficult marriages, relationship trauma, separation, and divorce, but I do not provide couples counseling.

Questions clients often ask about EMDR Therapy and EMDR Intensives

EMDR is a structured psychotherapy approach used to help people process distressing experiences and the beliefs, emotions, and body responses connected to them. Treatment includes preparation and is paced according to your needs and readiness. Read more HERE.

Not necessarily. EMDR can often be used without sharing every detail aloud. We will discuss what you need to communicate so that treatment feels clear, collaborative, and clinically appropriate.

EMDR cannot erase a memory or change what happened, and no therapy works the same way for everyone. Its strongest research support is for trauma and PTSD, although it may also help with other concerns when they are connected to distressing experiences, beliefs, or triggers.

Yes. EMDR may help when anxiety is connected to past experiences, persistent fears, emotional triggers, or negative beliefs about yourself. We will first explore what is driving your anxiety and determine whether EMDR, another apporach, or a combination of treatments is the best fit.

We begin with assessment, preparation, and tools to help you feel grounded. During processing, you may focus on a memory, belief, emotion, or body sensation while using eye movements, tapping, or another form of bilateral stimulation, with regular pauses to notice what is changing. You can read more about EMDR HERE.

EMDR cannot erase a memory or change what happened, and no therapy works the same way for everyone. Its strongest research support is for trauma and PTSD, although it may also help with other concerns when they are connected to distressing experiences, beliefs, or triggers.

You might cry during EMDR, but you do not have to. People process emotions in different ways, and crying is neither required nor a measure of whether EMDR is working.

EMDR can temporarily bring up uncomfortable emotions, body sensations, vivid dreams, fatigue, or additional memories between sessions. It also requires careful preparation and does not guarantee a particular result. Working with a properly trained therapist lets them adjust the pace and method to your needs.

Most of the debate concerns exactly how EMDR works and how much the eye-movement component contributes to treatment. Researchers continue to study its mechanisms, but EMDR is recognized as an evidence-based treatment for PTSD and is recommended in major clinical guidelines and trusted by the VA as a treatment for service members and others.

Just as with all therapy, no specific result is guaranteed. We will move you gently and carefully toward your goals. Most clients experience more growth and healing than the same number of hours in typical therapy because of the focus, continued effort, and the way you can stick with and work through things. However, because we are individuals, we all will experience different results.
